You can connect it but it won't do anything. A modem port is for plugging in a "telephone" line. You can't "dial up" another computer just by connecting them together. What you may be referring to is connecting 2 computers together using a "crossover" cable, which will work but you don't plug that into the modem port. It would plug into the ethernet (LAN) port.

only if you use NULL modem cable. Should work fine, but you have to use the right cable and connection settings.
