My husband & I are having a disagreement about who created the game; was it a white man or a black man? I know sometimes in the history books they don't give credit where credit is due, can anyone give an accurate account of its origins?

it was a white guy Walter Camp a Yale "football" player, changed the rules of "football" - the american modified version of rugby, to the football rules as we know it today

Well, I am not sure invented but since the first major college games were played in 1889, just a quarter century after the civil war, less than a decade after the horrible lynchings of 1880 and a nearly 80 years before Dr. King's brave work....you can pretty much guarantee it was a white man.

it was a bunch of white guys from europe. football is a cousin of rugby
