1. We are an obese nation. For example, nobody just eats a sugar cookie.
The cookie has nuts, chocolate chips,is dipped in chocolate and rolled in
coconut. Portions at restaurants are far more than the average person can
eat. We are addicted to junk and fast food.
2. We are adicted to computers, textmessaging, cell phones,emailing,
computer porn etc...
3. The average American watches 6 hours of TV every day.
4. Our teenagers party much more than they did in the 70s and only want to
get smashed and high.
5. We drive ridiculously large cars while the world is suffering from global
warming.
6. We build huge houses and only have two people living in them.

I could go on and on...

Because if you give a human being the ability to over indulge, they will. Kind of like if you give a pet too much food they will always eat it all. It's instinct.

Some of us do. I have to have tea biscuits nearby to combat low blood sugar,(from growth hormone deficiency, common symptom) so I munch on a few of those every now and then. The serious sweets aren't a good thing and I don't like them much. I'd also be lucky if I could actually eat an entire portion of anything at a restaurant--it serves me well for 3 meals technically speaking.

Some of our jobs require heavy computer use. I'm a moderator for a website in the morning and a radio news anchor in the evening. Both require me to be online.

Moderation in all things... especially moderation. One must not be excessively moderate; it's unhealthy and not natural.

We only do these things because we can.

People are so spoiled and don't have any idea that they are. All you can do is lead by example; complaining won't do any good.
