I think there is some truth in both of those statements. Look at Colin Powell---he is intelligent, well-educated, experienced, and he has chosen NOT to get involved in politics. But I believe the realities of the whole process do have a bad effect on some good people, and they do things to get elected or to stay in office that they once thought they would never do.

I think that there are a lot of politicians who enter the field with the idea of keeping their integrity while doing "good". It is only after they have been in the field for awhile that they find out that not everybody shares the same idea of what is "good". Further, they find that they are surrounded by others who are just as motivated and passionate about doing what they believe is the right thing even though their idea of the right thing is diametrically opposed to their own. This is the point were they find out what a nasty business politics can be. Nothing can be accomplished without a bit of give and take on both sides of any issue. So... they find that they have to compromise their beliefs on one issue to get deal on another issue that they find equally important.

Now... balance this against the issue of tenure. In the political game it's all about who owes you what and the more inexperienced simply don't carry the clout so have to compromise more to get to a position where they can do some real good. Unfortunately, by the time they reach a position of greater influence they have been rolling around in the mud so long that they have a tendency to forget why they got into the business in the first place, and even if they do remember enough time has usually passed that those issues are long resolved and no longer relevant.

I think that both is true. Some are corrupt and use politics as a pure financial gain. Others go in with good intentions and then see what they can earn if they sell out to special interest. I also believe there is some who remain honest or at least well intentioned. Some of the ones who make that list are Reagan, Carter, Bush (both), McCain, Powell, Lieberman, and Ventura. I am sure there are others and I don't think all of these are good politicians but I think they try.

At a while or the different for the time of their occupation in videos, they must have performed a place on an identical time as a minor sycophant in some political drama action picture.faster or later that's organic that those actors come to a decision to furnish politics a attempt if no longer for the rest a minimum of to stay interior the limelight and media and take a check out their acceptance, which,if got here across incredibly extensive, ought to launch them in a sparkling occupation the place they could appreciate pelf and ability,to no longer point out the mind-blowing perks that compliment it.for all time their economic corporation stability will stay in tact and if something strengthen extensively and rapid.Have a brilliant Day.

Politics is essentially policy making. Of course our great politicians have kinda sorta forgot thats. We have corrupt people, no doubt. We need reform, no doubt. I plan on going into politics, do not worry, I will neither become corrupt nor loose sight of my job, which is to make policy that helps the American people.

I don't think politics corrupt. I think the corruption was already there.
I believe that most Democrats who run for office, do so because they want to turn this country into a socialist/communist nation.

I think both of those things are happening. Intelligent people don't want to be compromised by getting into politics, and those that do must cater to voters and supporters, basically sell themselves out, in order to stay in office. It's hard to represent your people effectively and not be forced to do what it takes to remain in office.

Brings out the worse in people. Especially the average citizen who sit in their comfy homes and dictate what should be done but never raises a finger to help out. It's so easy to criticize.
