It is usually your responsibility if the fence posts/supports are on your side. Or whatever the deeds say.
On my house we are responsible for the fences on both sides, however both our neighbours have agreed to pay half of any repairs etc that need doing. Which I think is fair.
Just half it, be an adult you and your neighbour benefit from the fence, you should both pay regardless of who's responsibility it technically is.

it should say in the deeds to your house whose responsibility each border is.
for more sound advice go to the citizens advice bureau
I have pasted some of their advice on the internet but the full link is below...
"Boundaries, fences and walls
Establishing the boundaries and ownership
If a dispute arises between neighbours about the boundary between their properties, it will be necessary to establish who owns the disputed land. The primary evidence will be contained in the legal documents. Clear evidence of this kind is normally conclusive.
However, the boundaries between properties can differ from those described in the title documents or lease in certain circumstances. The most common are where they have been changed by agreement or by encroachment (occupation without permission). For more useful information about boundary disputes, see www.rics.org/Property/Propertymanagement/boundary_disputes.htm.
If you think that the boundaries are not defined in the title document or lease, or that the boundaries have been changed by agreement or encroachment, you should consult an experienced adviser, for example, at a Citizens Advice Bureau. It depends on whose property the fence is on, and who broke the fence. If the fence is on his property, but both of you have benefit from it, then there will be some debate on the issue. If there is a hole in the fence and his dog is coming on to your property, then he needs to repair it. If he does not have a pet, and your dog is getting on his property through the hole in the fence, then you might have to share some of the expense.

My fence in Floida USA, is - on the right. Standing on the street, road, lane etc.. and facing my property.
In my case it is the Southern side prop line.
Although when I had a survey done, they stated my neighbor's fence encroched on my side by up to 18 inches in spots. So that fence is mine now...

often talking the ultimate area is your duty and the left area is your neighbour's. this isn't a annoying and quickly rule yet while my left hand fence got here down I have been given the plans for my residing house and there have been marks exhibiting which fences i replaced into in charge for. And my neighbour replaced into in charge for it. I then moved to a various residing house and back it replaced into the left fence which got here down. It replaced into left for a protracted time and as i replaced into new I in basic terms theory i might get it fastened and not difficulty approximately duty. although, as quickly because it replaced into fastened my neighbour popped around and suggested he knew he replaced into in charge for it (he'd lived there for over 50 years!) and so gave me the money in direction of getting it fastened. So left is your neighbour's duty and top is yours often.
