I have heard it both ways: that muslims want to assimilate, but local populations (European) only wish to use them for cheap labor and really do not want them to integrate. and I have heard that local populations (European) want integration, but Muslims refuse and wish to live under their own laws, not that of the host cocuntry. What's the truth?

What is white people's deal with trying to make every culture in the U.S. assimilate to being white??

I don't think most cultures want to assimilate whites here. What we as a country have to decide is do we want to continue inviting different cultures into our country to be American citizens?
If we do, then we need to stop asking these people to try to become white Americans. If we don't...it's simple.

Stop inviting all of these people of different cultures to your country as citizens.
