I am a single mom in her 40's living in hyde park/chicago. It seems like a great with a company, corporate move, great salary and benefits. My dad, sister, are in chicago. I have only lived in chicago and 10 years in San Francisco. I haven't found a great or even a go job in chicago.

Try it. If you don't have a good job where you are now, there is no harm in it. Worst case, you move back. Kansas isn't that far from Chicago.

Unless you have something very important to you in a specific place: always go where the great job is. With the extra income you can always visit those relatives in Chicago, or anywhere. You will probably be a happier person to visit with.

It's the "little apple", you'll find housing to be much cheaper.
