its a good question.I think this question may have so many answers.the answers for this question will be definitly saying you that most of the indians does,t imitate. but this is absolutly wrong .why because there are two reasons for this type answer.
they are ,1)people who said like that are the people who imitates.2)the second reason is he is an indian.
Indians have a pshycology of not accepting the new things.they dont accept new things or accepts change easily.but if they once change they will not leave it.if any persons thinks differently or thinks newly they dont accept.
But they also have a small weakness that what ever things are done by there favorite people i.e the people who they admire, love and worship they will accept those things.
this is well known to every body but they dont accept.so people who like to be different in society and likes to establish his own symbol or style in his area or in his surrounding he just imitate the persons who is admired by those people in his locality.
thats all the reason for this imitation .I am also an Indian I also imitates some things
bye

Imitation in art is a flattery, example people try to sing like a good singer their songs.
Because it is a good idea, there is minimum risk, example, your friend buys a gadget that you were going to buy 3 years ago, but not sure about the performance....., now you see it you get even chance to use it some, it is a natural thing for you own it.
It is call keeping up with Jones when done for vanity or wrong reasons. This is also a universally know human nature.

From Buddha through Gandhi To me & elder our Prez Dr apjk, do not really beleive it.
However a sense of safe play & pragmatism desire curtails adventurism. At least less blind fashion follow in India generally (event high charge spaces like Godhra, reaction & subsequent remorse etc) is rare in India, as also shortly self corrective. Still I'm sure a little more general sense of security will reduce further copycat scene.

Perhaps because the grass is always greener on the other side. We are just too tempted to follow and check it. or else would have suffered the temptation throughout. Any solution for it?

I don't believe that is true, but those who follow or imitate lack courage to be themselves.

Everyone does it, they just don't admit it.
And, if you're going to follow anyone, make sure it's someone smarter than you.
