Tell her that you know that it hurts and that as a mother you always want to protect her and that there are just some things that our kids have to learn on there own and unfortunately the ache of a love lost is just one of the many but one of the most hurtful ones.
Tell her that you know that is hurts now but that it will get better with time and that there is a man out there that will be exactly who and what she needs and that one day she will find him. That unfortunately we have to endure the pain and heartache that we receive from choosing the wrong mates until we find the one that is right.
Tell her to mope for a day and then get out of that dorm room and try to have fun with her friends. Don't go looking for love that it will find her.
Tell her that you are here if and when she needs you and to call you if she needs to talk.
Tell her that you love her and that everything will look brighter when this storm clears. And to guard hurt heart from him and not to let him back in too quick this time. That this is her chance to explore her options.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

She probably does love him very much but until she is fed up with him breaking up and getting back together with her there is nothing you can do. I know that you want to take her pain away but there is no way to do that she is going to be hurt because she has spent so much time with him. Try to cheer her up by doing things she enjoys on the weekends when she is home from school. That way you can take her mind off of him and also just listen to her instead of putting in advice until she asks you. I love just having dinner with my mom having a drink and talking about stuff. Or go shopping spend a mommy daughter day getting nails done and stuff like that. No matter what anyone says she will leave him alone on her on time.

You can't take her pain away. Besides, maybe the pain will teach her this isn't the right guy for her. Get her the book, Ten Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives, by Dr. Laura Schlesinger.

This kind of things have happened to me before all you could really do is tell your daughter you are there, and will always be there for her.You can't go around finding her someone to date. She has to do that all on her own. There's not much you could do in this case. Just be there when she needs someone to talk to, and to cheer her up. I wish her Good Luck in life!!! Don't worry she will be fine.

do you work with any young guys her age that are available? If so show her picture to them and see if they are interested or give them her email address. Get her talking to other guys and this way you might know a little about the guy since you work with them or maybe your husband works with a guy her age.
Just a thought wouldn't hurt to help her find a new man.

Unfortunately, There isn't much you can do, except to be there for her everytime this happens. She is going to want this to end on her own. and trust me, when she has enough everyone will know, and she'll move on. I know it's sad to watch, but just be there for her. she'll get tired of it. trust me..

You can only be there for her, this is her pain to bear and you can't take it away from her.
