My best friend had one a few months ago and said the Novocaine injections were very painful. The tissue sampling was painless (due to the Novocaine), but he was really sore afterwords and in his words "my prostate was angry with me". He said if he ever had it done again it would only be done under anesthesia.

Been there done that three times. You are given pill to help with pain which is very mild it feel like a cap gun as they probe the prostrate. Good luck.

My brother had one not long ago and he said it was mildly uncomfortable, but was ok before the day was over.
