Is it a violation of rights. I personally think the should ban smoking with a child in the car. Why would someone want to kill their child?

I, like some other's who posted, am a smoker. I'm also a Vet who fought supposedly to keep this country's 'freedom' in place....to me that included my right to smoke if I chose to. Obviously I must have just been fighting for the rights of the 'select' since I can barely walk out of my home with a cigg in my mouth without someone making some kind of snide remark usually from some extremely obese individual who will probably drop dead from a heart attack quicker than I will. (Oh, I'm 55 and have smoked since I was 17 and have no medical issues whatsoever)

I am sooooooo tired of being told what I can and cannot do in this great country of ours that I'm almost ready to move to another country and spend my retirement years in peace somewhere.

We are all going to die...everyone is so afraid to die and it's one of the most certain things that is going to happen no matter what you eat, drink, how much you exercise....you are going to drop dead just like everyone else when the good Lord says you've done your part. I personally hope to have a Camel in my mouth happily smoking.

Why can't we just mind our own business? There is NO reason to make every bar in every town nonsmoking...there are not enough nonsmokers to keep all the establishments open and the mom and pop places are the first to fall. People are so wrapped up in their own wants that they walk all over other people's rights in order to get things 'their' way. The biggest insult of all was my state didn't even put it up for a vote....the 'establishment' sat down and the next morning we awoke to a smoke-free bar city.

They will start with one freedom and take it while Americans sit back and say "well that isn't that bad; that is going to be a good thing"...and you can rest assured your rights are going to be falling one at a time. Today it was ciggs...tomorrow it will be something that YOU actually consider your right as an American to do.

I know I'm in the minority on this one but frankly I really don't care. I think this is a complete violation of rights. And in case you want to know, I am a mom and I do smoke in the car and in the house. Again, I know most will disagree but I don't care, its my choice and I am fine with my choice. Fortunately, I don't hear any talk of bans like this where I live.

I feel sorry for smokers, really. But I still like the bars in NJ a lot better since they went smoke-free and nobody is allowed to smoke in my car no matter how old they are.

Kinda amazes me that a law would be needed to indicate to people that smoking in an enclosed space like that with minors present is a bad idea...... these days.
I smoke and am pretty discrete around non smokers....I keep my distance.

Seattle smoking ban does not effect me all that much.

Although I think that exceptions might have been made for some
bars and clubs.

CHELC is 100 % right !
It is you're right to harm you're self, but who will protect the Innocent kids from what smokers choose. If there parents cant be responsible then as in any child endangerment case, the government needs to steep in.

Its illegal, and u shouldnt smoke at all, why pay such a high price for cancer and early death? It might be a stress reliever now, but when u cant pay medical bills for your khemo theoropy, you'll be a heck of a lot more stressed. Only cuz u smoked... Not worth it

They have no right to tell people that they cannot smoke in their own damn car!! It's really none of their business!! As long as you crack your window while driving the smoke will go right out the window!!

I'M ALL FOR IT. CHILDREN ARE INFLUENCED BY WHAT THEY SEE AND HEAR...NO ONE WANTS THEIR CHILD TO BE INFLUENCED IN THE WRONG WAY...BEING A SMOKER I RESPECT OTHERS BY NOT DOING CERTAIN THINGS THAT AREN'T APPROPRIATE AROUND THEM..AND IF YOU CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT SMOKE THEN DON'T DRIVE CHILDREN OR ANYONE ELSE...

Oh my god! Is that the law! Then I'm a criminal! I think the age should be lower, like 14 instead.
