Venus.
Venus is hotter than Mercury because of very strong global warming caused by its extremely thick, almost pure carbon dioxide, atmosphere. It is a greenhouse effect many thousands of times stronger than the one on Earth.
In comparison, Mercury, with no atmosphere, looses heat to space much more easily and do stays cooler even though it is closer to the Sun.

It's a toss up between Mercury and Venus which both have temperatures around 700K to 800K. Despite Mercury's overwhelming proximity to the Sun, the Venusian atmosphere of greenhouse gases keeps Venus quite warm. Edge to Venus.
Note to RGS: Don't worry about asking that question. The Sun is not a planet. It's a star.

For our solar system, it looks like Venus beats Mercury, going by Wikipedia, for surface temperature at the Equator; Mercury has a max of 700 Kelvin, while Venus has a max of 773 K (mean of 727 K). The sun is not a planet.

Venus - Mercury gets close (700K) but Venus's greenhouse effect gets the maximum surface temperature up to 770K despite it being nearly twice as far from the Sun.

Well.... you never said in this solar system so... we have some evidence that there are planets out in the galaxy that are so close to thier parent stars they nearly touch one another. I think those planets win.

In this solar system its a close call between mercury and venus but I think venus wins... something to do with carbon dioxide. Elsewhere... who knows?
