Just wondering-I loved this book as a child and want to see the movie if it follows the book. Given that a child dies in the book, will Disney alter the story line? I can't find any reviews for the movie-usually that is not a good sign (ie studio wants to downplay that the movie isn't very good).

Oh, I've been wondering the same thing! I remembering reading the book in the 6th grade and I loved it! One of the few books that I truly enjoyed at that age. The movie looks awesome. It's so weird, though, because I don't really remember much from the book at all except that the two kids always played at the river by the rope swing, and at the end the girl died when she fell off the rope swing and hit her head (correct?). I don't remember the giant that they show in the previews, or anything like that. I'm sure it'll jog my memory when I see the actual movie, though. I can't wait! I think my little sister will love it. But I know she'll cry if the girl dies at the end, so I'd like to know ahead of time what to expect.
