I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I wish I remember what the name of that movie was, too. It was like a science fiction movie, wasn't it? Actually it could have been in an episode of "Time Trax" as well.

it is indeed "runaway" - robot spiders, gene simmons as the bad guy, chainsaw knives and tom sellek - one of my fave films from childhood.
