I don't know much soft rock.

Most Beatles songs are soft rock, all except "Twist & Shout".

If you want something a little more upbeat, "Old Time Rock 'n Roll". You can play the video and drink a beer with your dad and have one hell of a time.

I also thought of "Stairway To Heaven", but that might be a bad choice. No one wants to be reminded that they are a year closer to dying.

If your dad likes to party, get the beer, and play "Old Time Rock 'n Roll" throughout the video.

"Like a Rock" is an old Bob Segar tune. Bob Segar does "My Boy is just like me, he's grown up just like me." That can be interpreted good or bad, but put a good spin on it. Bob Segar does a lot of great stuff like.

What kind of guy is your dad? Is he a hard edged guy? A fun loving man? A sappy dad?
How about WIND BENEATH MY WINGS "did you ever know that you're my hero" if he's your hero.

Has he got a favourite song or a favourite artist? Why don't you try and find out and use that - he'll be really chuffed? Good luck.
