Many newer notebooks offer this deliberate form of data protection in case of loss or theft.

Contact the manufacturer's support line with the serial number of the laptop & if all is legit they will assist you.

If you installed the drive in a different file system than you have on your PC, it won't be able to access it. Like say your desktop has linux, and you are trying to access a NTFS (windows XP) partition, you can look at it but you can't change it because it's a different kind of partition, I don't really understand how you can "toke" off a harddisk and try to hook up an external master. If I were you, I would buy an adapter, like a Kangaroo drive so you can plug in the laptop harddisk (different conversions from laptop to standard IDE or SATA) for the desktop. If you can see the drive, but not access it's either a different kind of partition or you don't have it connected right, or, you have a fried drive. If you have a fried drive, put it in a ziploc bag, throw it in the freezer (no really do it) for like 3 hours, then hook it up with as fast connection possible and try to get your really important stuff off of it. You want to hook it up with the drive as COLD AS POSSIBLE. Good luck with your data recovery.

It sounds as in case you have taken the oldcontinual out and linked it via an exterior enclosure, then tried to get right of entry to the my information folder. in spite of in case you have set the bills up precisely an identical the recent laptop could have some diverse information and think of it particularly is an unauthorised account. attempt shifting the archives by using copying to a cd/dvd, in any different case seem on the folder permissions.
