This question has been asked before, but usually by someone who hates the game (as such, the question will be tinged with criticism). I, however, am a fan of the game (going on 2 years now) and I am curious as to why everyone else is playing the game.

Yes, it's recreational ... Yes, it's an escape into a fantasy world ... Yes, it's a great way to meet people ... Yes to all of those answers above me ... but personally for me, I think it's the joy of ganking newbs and listening to their whinny crying after. :P

Why do I play WoW? So many reasons (I'm also a nearly two-year veteran - 1 lvl 62, 2 lvl 61s, various other mid level toons)...
I play because it is still fresh and as fun as it was when we first started playing (both my husband and I play, and yes we have taken breaks and stayed away from the game for a while here and there, but we always seem to come back)!
Truthfully it still surprises both of us that we are still interested in it, normally we'd play a game at most for a month before we'd lose interest... that hasn't really happened with WoW and we've tried other games since finding WoW, but they never seem as good as it.
I play because I enjoy raiding with a good core group of raiders, exploring new game content, and being a part of the first group of raiders to down new bosses on our server.
I enjoy the people I spend time with in /g chat.
I enjoy the intricacies of the game: the professions; mastering one's class; the quest threads; advancing my toons; playing the "auction house game;" i love the artwork and time blizzard has put into developing a good fascinating game.
Most of all, we like playing it because its fun, and it serves as a good distraction from the stresses of the day... and it is a nice change from coming home, vegging out and watching tv all night.

I play because its recreation...and a tempory escape from the hum drum day to day goings on. I still take time off, thats why I am only at lvl 30 in two months, but It is fun, and it gives me a chance to step away from mt probelms and worries, even for an hour or two is nice.
