My friend and i would like to go on holiday together over the summer (she's a teacher so it has to be in the summer holidays - ie August) but we're stuck for inspiration as to where to go. We're both going to be 24 when we go & our budget is about £700 (not inc. spending money) and we'd like to go for 2 weeks. We would both like somewhere were there is a bit of culture & history, somewhere to chill out and catch some rays (preferably a nice sandy beach), somewhere with some nightlife (but we're not hardcore 18-30s clubbers) and that's about it! I know it's pretty vague! Any ideas would be greatfully received - thanks!!!

Hi!

I've been all around the world, and its no wonder you are clueless, so I am here to help you and your friend out.

I am about to take a trip to Egypt in February. If you are interested in the history, it seems like a kewl place to go, but I have been warned: it can be a ripoff.

Africa seems like an amazing place to go. Its beautiful, the wildlife is supposed to be amazing, and the people are supposed to be awesome. I wish I could go to Cape Town. The shopping is supposed to be spectacular from what my friends say, and if you like sharks, make sure you check out the shark cage. Repelling and rock climbing is also popular there.

China sounds even cooler. My firend lived in Shanghai and she said it was AMAZING! The people are supposed to be amazingly sweet, and I bet you can shop till you drop. Food is great, and there are ancient ruins to go see, lols...

There is supposed to be a train that runs all the way from one side of Russia to the other. Im not sure about the partying, but my teacher described it as one of the best things he has ever done in his entire life. It takes around 2-3 weeks, and the views are spectacular.

If there is one place I would like to visit it would be Antarctica. There are tourism cruises that go for around 5-8 days, and start from New Zealand. Doing both would be 100%awesome, and I would kill to see the beautiful landscapes (and meet some penguins!). Of course, partying would not be the main agenda on the list.

Spain is also a great place, but it is pricey. I loved Singapore and Malaysia. Unbelievable, I tell you. the people are SO KIND, I loved it. It was like being in heaven. The malls are amazing, and the trip is never complete without seeing the Petronas Towers.

Turkey and Greece cruises are also available. I am not really sure about prices, but the Royal Carribean sounds awfully nice. lolls...it reminds me of Pirates of the Carribean. I like ships, so if you are a sea person, I would advise a cruise ship.

Ok, I'll ponder some more and see if I can think of anything else.

Hope this helped a bit!
:D

lol my girlfriend is a teacher, and shes 24. Its not here your taking is it?
An ideal place is the southern end of Playa de Las Americas in Tenerife. Its really nice there (make sure you go to the other southern end) Its a really nice atmosphere at night, and if you want the hardcore clubbing you go down the other end, but the nightlife is nice around the Southern end, but not your typical 18-30 stuff) The southern end has nice bars, as I say nice atmosphere, great climate, suitable for all ages. It does have nice man made beaches too. There are a couple of nice beaches. We have been twice, stopped in the Tenerife Princess, and the Vulcano. We went for 2 weeks both times, and I think it was about £750 ish each on both occasions. The hotels we stopped in were both 4 star and were spot on. Theres some other lovley hotels (Mediterranean Palace, Sir Anthony (well smart that is but its expensive) Julio Caesar palace etc. The best value for money I would say is the Vulcano, its in a lovely place. Hope you get sorted. If you go here im sure you will like it.

Tenerife - Las Americas (southern end) Ideal hotel - Vulcano.

Try Montenegro! Same bit of Adriatic coast as Croatia, so no problems with history, culture, beaches, weather, nightlife etc. It's easy to get to via Dubrovnik (not Belgrade or any flights via Vienna or Frankfurt that get advertised) on a budget airline (2.5 hours?) then a coach across the border in about an hour. No visa required. The currency is the Euro, although not part of the euro zone and the people are fantastic, as are the cafes, wine and food. Best of all it's still undiscovered and relatively cheap as chips but fantastic value for money. Check out www.visit-montenegro.com and see what you think. It's beautiful! Everyone will say 'where?', then be so jealous when they see the photos.

Your money will stretch further if you holiday either in Thailand or Indonesia (Bali). People are friendly and there is definitely history and culture. Both countries also have fantastic beaches. Food is oh so good ranging from spicy exotic to simple fish and chips. Both countries are safe for tourists if you follow the usual common sense precautions taken by travellers.Enjoy yourselves.

Greek islands, but there are loads, or even the mainland - Athens?
Sicily is lovely too, and has all your reqyirements, went there last year - friendly people too.
Cyprus, but avoid Ayia Napa!
Majorca or Minorca?
Look at travel agents brochures, then go online and see what you can get off from the prices...
Good luck and have a great holiday!
