The Ratster would be your first place to start your search
http://www.ratster.com/ It's a constantly updated directory of responsible, ethical breeders who only breed rats for pets, so you know you're getting a good quality pet rat.

Ratteries/Rodentries in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I tried to narrow it down for you and got no results, so you will have to consider how far you want to travel to obtain your ratty.

Does this help any?

I'm on many Yahoo rat-only groups and I'm talking to professional breeders all the time. Maybe you could join my Holistarat group, or another rat group and spread the word? Or maybe you would like me to do that for you?

You could try looking for them using the search engines typing rat breeders and the state you're in. If all things fail you could browse around the Rats Rule! message board for rescues and adoptions: http://www.goosemoose.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,118/forum,rat/board,5.0
