if so, could you please name some other grunge bands, its for a school project!! iv already got alot of bands but i need more!!

Yes and no (crap answer I know)
I think the main body of their work would skirt on the edges of grunge and their early involvement with Bob Mould certainly does give them a grunge pedigree but in the long run they will be best remembered for the "grave dancers union" album which is about as far away from grunge as you can get without becoming "Air Supply"

No. Though the band reached its popular peak during the grunge era, they are not a grunge band. Their major musical influences were Minneapolis-based alt/punk bands like the Replacements and Husker Du.
Soul Asylum's work is much more pop-oriented than the more dark and murky grunge sound.

I would have to disagree. They peaked in the middle of the grunge era, but were more of an alternative sound. Grunge bands are/were: Nirvana, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, etc...
Soul Asylum is a lot lighter than those bands and has a different style.... in my opinion.

No. they were classed as alternitive/rock with a side journey into power ballads. Sorry, No grunge there.
