Your actual identity does not need to be stolen to cause damage to ones reputation. If someone joins a group using your user name damage could be done to your personal or professional reputations. People will not ask what happened but just assume it was you who joined a particular group. On the other issue of stealing ones named identity or social security, your professional and personal lives could be ruined. Simple searches that are conducted to find out more about a person could easily turn up false or malicious information.

Not if you had proof that your identity was stolen...

BLACKMAIL is the word you are looking for.

If your identity gets stolen, and you have no way to prove it, and the person who stole your identity uses it to make you look a FRAUD then yes your reputation could possibly be ruined.

It just depends on if you have evidence or not of your identity being stolen.

Peoples identities get stolen everyday, but if someone lives in California, and they suddenly BUY a pair of shoes in Tennesse at a store, it is highly likely someone stole their credit card info, and no one would think BADLY of the person therefore their reputation is NOT RUINED.

It depends on the type of identiy loss, and what it is used for.

If you think that any of the following would ruin your identity then yes.

1) Bancrupcy due to your money being taken by an impersonator

2) Criminal record due to an impersonator

3) Identity being used by terrorists so getting onto the CIA bad books. Or MI5. Or worse still Mossad.

4) Credit rating of 'poor' due to false credit cards being taken out

5) Mistakenly considered dead because identity thief died under your identity.

6) Mistakenly being dead because someone wants to get even on you for being bad - not me doesn't work on some people.

7) Divorce because you spouse found you'd been buying strange services or products.

I'm sure there are others.

Completely ruined. Your credit could be affected for years, which could prevent you from buying a home, a car, getting a school loan, to say nothing of being blamed for theft and even violent crime. It's almost impossible to repair the damage done by identify theft. Just ask those people who have spend thousands of dollars and fought this for years, and still don't have a clean credit report or record.

identity in what sense..if in literal sense like stealing any document or something, yes your reputation could be ruined,so you have to be careful.but you can always avoid bad reputation if you are innocent and have registered a robbery it'll be fine.if you have your whole family and trustable friends, you really dont have to worry. hope this'll help
