Because you don't learn from your previous attempts to find things. You probably do not always leave what you are going to lose in the same place as the last thing you found, so you have to start all over again when you begin looking for the lost item. Pay Attention Next Time!!!!

Because once you have found what you are looking for you stop looking for it, so it will always be in the last place

It's always in the last place you look because that's the natural order of things. I don't think it would make sense if you find something and keep looking for it as if your in a parallel universe.

Theory of Language right? Semantics, really. Even if it is the first place you look, it will still be the last. Why would you need to look for it once you found it.
