Torrent is a protocol of sharing files.
First, the files are splitted into many pieces, of file. There can be one file, or multiple files.
When the torrent is submitted to the tracker, the tracker will keep track of:
- Who uploads the file (makes it available for people to download)
- Who downloads the file (the tracker will response that who is uploading the file, so the downloader can connect and download files from them)
- How much did who uploads/downloads (this is used in some tracker, to prevent people to download only, without uploading)
- etc.
