I cant find any reference to it as being a valid diagnosis ( Dx ). My daughter ( 8 ) supposedly has this . My other children are on the Autism Spectrum , I'm wondering if this Dx is a veiled way of hinting that she has a form of Autism without coming out and saying it. The agency that tested her would have to provide her services if she fell on the Autism Spectrum but now has refused to because she has " Social Cognitive Disorder " . Any help is appreciated.

Social cognitive disorder is not a form of autism it is a trait this means that the disorder can exist without the autistic diagnoses. Social cognitive disorder means that her neural pathways do not connect when it comes to social behavior, she has difficulty with comprehension of right and wrong as well as simple tasks. In order to help her you need to set up a daily functioning guide, she may be displaying scd due to visual traits displayed by siblings as a way to relate to siblings and not knowing how to change the set pattern of beh. For the most part you can show her through repetition on social cues and clues, find out if there is a course available for her to develop positive social beh. As well you can show her proper cues such as eye contact, verbal cues when someone says hello and so on. I hope that helps out a little bit. Good luck I know you have your hands full but this can be remedied which should ease your mind some.

Go to "health.ivillage.com" and punch in this disorder. It will give you a discription.
