Not even a fair comparison. The 85 Bears D ran the 46, which was pretty much made famous by Buddy Ryan.
Marshall, Singletary and Otis Wilson were the best three linebackers to play together.
McMichael, Hampton, Dent and Perry never allowed anyone to rush the ball.
2 shutouts on the way to the superbowl in the playoffs has not happened since.
As far as the comparisons to Urlacher and Singletary though - people who say that Singletary was better are not doing justice to Urlacher - noone has ever played middle linebacker like Urlacher - Singletary was more of a game manager, but not nearly as good as Urlacher.

No, you're able to desire to EARN that, and too a lot isn't shown. Lining up Peppers next to Harris could desire to create some problems, IF Harris returns to his early form AND the different facet of the line does it extremely is job. there continues to be a team of huge IFs. i like Idonije moving to DE and Harrison has some experience now. could desire to be exciting. The Bears had to permit Ade and Alex visit liberate $, and that they actually did no longer lose that a lot doing it. The Bears did get a a lot greater powerful CB. Vasher grow to be at one time The Interceptor, however the previous couple of seasons he has been a weak point of the group fairly than power. IF the Bears linebackers are healthy, they could desire to be exciting as properly. IF the Bears fill the protection holes, AND stay healthy, they could grow to be a sturdy protection returned. Peppers isn't the variety of participant to no longer grant, he's continuously a splendid DE in sacks.

They are a good defense, but agreed, nothing like the 85 Bears. I wonder if this team will do the super bowl shuffle too! lol, anyways, their secondary is nothing without Mike Brown, that's the biggest downfall I see for them. As far as run defense they are pretty solid, but still, they'd be better if Tommie Harris was playing instead of sidelined with an injury.

No way. None of the teams of today will ever compare to those teams of old; Beard, Cowboys, 49ers. Since the introduction of the stupid salary cap, teams have not been as dominant. Teams are too equal to each other these days because of the SC. The 85 Bears were DOMINANT. These two teams playing in the Superbowl are fairly equal. Salary Cap caused the death of the dominants and brought a rise to teams who would never have been good without it; i.e. Seahawks, Patriots, Saints, etc.

Not even close. The 85 Bears D was one of the most dominate Ds ever. This current one is a good D but no where near as dominate.

This year's defense pales in comparison to the Bears' defense in 1985, which is arguably one of the greatest defenses in the last 30 years or so.

Bad Pookie, the salary cap was the best thing to ever happen to football...unless you are a cowboys or 49ers fan.

After Peyton and the Colts get through with them I don't think anyone will compare the two.
