Almost anything to the power of 0 is equal to 1. You can see this by thinking about the numbers x^3, x^2, x^1, x^0. You can see that you get each one by dividing the previous one by x. So x^0 must mean x^1 divided by x, which means x/x which is equal to 1.
The only exception is if x is equal to zero. Zero to the power of zero is not 1. In fact, it is not anything at all. It's an operation you can't perform, because you can't divide 0 by 0 to calculate it.
So in this case, your answer is 1 unless the thing in brackets happens to be zero, in which case, the answer is undefined.
