I'm 23 years old and trying to find a career that is right for me. I have been thinking about getting my license to become a Real Estate Appraiser. I currently work at a construction company, and make 40k a year, but I am not happy sitting at a desk all day. Can anyone give me some advice?

Haley, the appraisers that I have met love their careers.

Call some from the phone book and ask for a few minutes to discuss their career choice. Most people will give a few minutes at the end of business day.

With you already being in a real estate related field that will help you understand even better some of the things you will learn.

Appraisers need to graduate up to the highest level in their field to make really good money, that takes time, so plan on keeping this job for a while as you study, get your license and do some interning.

Very best of luck

Go for it! Can you work studies into your schedule after work? Real estate appraisers are in big demand and with the aging of the baby boomers it will only get busier! Best of Luck! ;-)=

Yes, this is supposed to be a growing field. Be prepared to make less $$ initially as you go through training, which may take a couple or more years, as they are increasing the license requirements.
