The brushes in the window motor might be going out if you think it is a short it will probably be in the wiring going in to the door at the door jam pull the rubber back and see if there are any pinched wires

It is probibly a loose wire at the window button mechanism or its coming off track. You can pop off the inner door panel to get to it. If you have the little round plastic buttons you can pop them off with s flat tip screwdriver then take out the scres underneath to get it off.You may have a screw at the inner door handle too if it has a plastic cover just do the same.

Its more likely the motor. You can go to a junk yard and ask if they have your make and model+year and replace your motor with a motor from a wreck, to save money. If its a short, you'll need to pay a mechanic, unless you want to take off the door panel and fiddle with it yourself.

My passenger side window did that on my old Grand Am. I never did get it fixed cause the body shop told me that it could be from $200-$500. It was a flat fee if they had to take the door apart to see what was wrong with it.

It could be the motor, the mechanism (arm) or it is off track.. Unless you are capable of opening the door (take it apart) I would bring it to a reputable glass place or mechanic.

it sounds to me like either your switch for that window or your motor is going out i would hook up a test light to your switch so you can see if the switch is getting power if it is then its your motor try that and if that didnt help let me know and i will call another mechanic friend of mine and get an opinion from him to help you diagnose it.

yeah, sounds like a short in the wires or maybe the controls got wet and aren't making good contact. If you are handy at all you could probably figure it out and fix it yourself.

Perhaps the battery went dead on you while the doors where open. Try charging the battery.
