keep the mice on a high protien diet, find a food that has as much protien and as little fat as possible, also give your mice orange slices, they have lots of vitamins. good luck with then.

I'm not sure if I should be answering this question as I am more of a mouse fan than a snake fan :)
But the most important thing to keep your snake healthy, and for the quality of life for the mice, is to keep the mice healthy.
To do that, mice need a variety of seeds. You can find heaps of mouse feeds at pet shops/supermarkets etc. DO NOT feed them guinea pig or rabbit food as this has something in it which is poison to mice.
Along with the normal seed mix, it's good to feed mice wheat or anything with a lot of carbohydrates, as I find that just feeding them normal mouse seed makes them get very skinny and causes health problems.
Lab blocks for mice are also good as they are supposed to have all the nutrients mice need to live, however mice, like people, get bored of having the same food all the time and end up eating less and getting unhealthy, so a seed mix + lots of wheat is normally the best way to go.

You can feed the mice any rodent food that you can get in a pet store as long as they are old enough to eat it.
My question to you is, why are you feeding live food? It's much more convenient to feed frozen - no smell, less space involved, safer for both you and the snake! See link:

Mice will eat simple hamster food. You can keep your mice healthy through those means. Feed them a lot. Fatten them up nicely and enjoy watching your snake squeeze the life out of them before they gulp them down. It's a wonderful lesson in watching the food chain at it's finest.

We simple feed our rats cheap Ol' Roy dog food. You can buy a 4 pound bag for around $2 and it has all the nutrients they need at a much cheaper price. With mice you may need to crush it up a bit as the pieces would be quite large for them.
