It can be. Yeast is part of your normal flora and is an opportunist! By this I mean that it is only a problem if your internal environment changes. The vagina is normally acidic and semen is slightly basic which after sex temporarily changes the pH of the vagina and during this window of opportunity yeast can multiply. Yeast can also result from general antibiotic consumption which kills the normal bacteria, but not yeast, which is not a bacteria, but a fungus and it feeds off the dead bacteria and as a result overgrows the mucosa. The most common yeast found in humans is Candida albicans which is latin for white yeast.
There are many other reasons that a person may get a yeast infection and sex is only one of them, but it can happen!
Anything that suppresses your immune system can also cause yeast including AIDS, HIV, steroids and/diabetes to name a few

Short answer - Can be

However the bacteria that causes this type of infection is naturally present within a woman's body. In fact larger people have been known to get thrush in between folds of skin! All it takes is for an imbalance in the bacteria in a woman's vagina, this can be caused by soap or douching (this is not a good idea) among other things.

Once it is present it needs treating by a doctor as further complications can occur, the infection can cause infertility and pelvic inflammatory disease but this is unusual and must be left for quite some time to develop into this type of problem. It is easily treated with either a pill or a cream (make sure it will kill the infection and not just alleviate symptoms)

That said, if having unprotected sex, a woman can pass the infection onto a man. This can lead to you passing the infection backwards and forwards indefinitely (or him passing it to you) - I had a friend who had this happen for a period of 6 months. This is easily dealt with - you get your partner to take one of the handy little pills at the same time as you, refrain from sex for a period of time (or use a condom) and both of you should be clear of infection.

But remember if you have had unprotected sex it is important to be screened for STI's because these can cause problems for you in the future.

Hope that's helpful

It can be - especially if your partner has diabetes. I think there's some too about making sure that you wash after intercourse. My ex had diabetes and I was always getting yeast infections. With my current partner I have never had one. The only difference that I can tell is the diabetes and the fact that my new guy likes to run us a hot bath afterward. Maybe that kills any yeast cells - I don't know.

A yeast infection can be related to sexual activity. You can pass a yeast infection to your partner and he can pass it back to you. To get rid of it you both have to be treated. But a yeast infection is mostly related to taking antibiotics.

Candida Albicans is a natural part of our digestive system. When the body is in Homeostasis (natural Balance) this microscopic fungi is not a problem HOWEVER taking ANTIBIOTICS, eating too many refined carbohydrates acid forming foods and SUGAR or anything with lots of sugar in it; can interfere with natural metabolism causing inbalance with our natural system. It can be passed on through unprotected sexual practices but is not a sexually transmitted Disease. Both you and your partner need to be treated. The chemist can give you a one off tablet or a wonderful product called innerhealth(full of probiotics) is an excellent product.

A yeast infection can be passed from partner to partner but I don't believe sexual activity itself can cauase a yeast infection.
