put an ashtray in her mouth and ask her how she feels.
I smoke my self but so does my hubby, if he didnt smoke though i would definately give up as i know how horrible it it for a non smoker to be kissed by a smoker, its even worse when you are an ex smoker. (I always say that ex smokers are worse than non smokers).
Try to come to a compromise with her, no smoking in the house and keep the fags down when your together, tell her to carry lots of gum,
The worst thing is you may give in too and start back up again, you stick to your guns I wish I could give up good luck x

No preaching. No nagging. No force. No showing pictures of diseased lungs, cancer patients etc... No, it won't work.
She knows it. You cannot insult her intelligence. You were smoker yourself, (hope you won't go back to it) - but you know better how it feels when you stop.
Give her time, support her, love her. You are there when she needs you. That's the best you can do. Do not even acknowledge that she smokes. Just request her to take her smoke outside the home. If she loves you, she will do it.
There is no magic that you can perform. You have done that already by stopping smoking.
Continue to love her. Good luck.

She's got to want to do it, try quiting together. Even if you don't smoke alot, it just encourages that other person. My mother smoked for 35 years and quit about 6 months ago. My husband just quit as well and they both used a hypnotherapist. My mother actually went to a session, and my husband used the cd, in which you can buy online. His name is Matt Godson. Again she has to want it for herself but there is a little info for you. Good Luck !

You truly have no control over what she does. I have seen so many people sneak behind their partner's back. It's sad.
All you really can control is yourself. Quit - and take on a healthy lifestyle. You CAN support her. Make sure there are healthy snacks for her to eat - and activities for her to do with her hands - and all of the things that help when you quit smoking.
But remember - you cannot make up her mind for her. She has to do that herself.
Good luck!

Just lost my second workmate to cancer due to smoking, also lost my Mum & Dad from smoking. But give your girlfreind the facts on what smoking does to her looks, hollowing out of the cheeks, stained fingers and teeth, and worse still the smell!

show her something that she would like like a pair of shoes of something and them tell her she could buy that for the price of two weeks cigs .
i gave up on new year not because i don't want to smoke but because i want to try bottox and the need for one is caused by the other , so in giving up i can kill 3 birds with one stone -
1, smoking causes frown lines
2, money saved by not smoking will pay for bottox
3, bottox removes frown lines.

tell her that her breath is terrible from the cigarettes and
also that her hair and her skin and clothes all smell from
them, as well. When a person is near me, I can tell
immediately that they smoke. It is a horrible smell that
radiates around the person who smokes. Not to mention,
it is terrible for your health.

Show her some pictures of diseased lungs. Then explain to her if she gives up now, she'll have more or less normal lungs in a couple of years time :-) And how about putting the money you and her would spend on cigarettes in a jar and save up for a nice meal/weekend away?

Then you would know that only she and she alone can give up the cigarettes. You cannot do it for her. You can only support her and be there for her.
You wouldn't sound like a hypocrite if you told her how much you love her and how much you care for her health, would you? Good luck!
