Neptune's core is actually thought to be made of molten rock and metal and even if it were just made of gas, things infalling at high speeds would vaporize.

Don't assume that it is made only of gas. There likely is a small molten rock core (what do you think happens to all those meteors and comets that fall in there?).
Regardless, the enormous gravitation forces that a meteor would be subjected to by Neptune, would keep the meteor from emerging.

First, it is not made of only gas. It has a rocky core, and there is also ice. When a meteor is drawn into a planet, friction from the atmosphere cause the meteor to slow down and break up into tiny fragments.

It may be "only" gas, but even thin gas resists movement. The air around you resists motion so well that satellites cannot orbit Earth in the atmosphere. It they tried to orbit in the air at 18,000 MPH, friction from the air would quickly slow them down to only a few hundred miles per hour, and they would drop to the ground. So a meteor ends up going so slow that it just sinks slowly, or kind of drifts slowly, at a few hundred miles per hour, to the center of the planet. Since that speed is WAY less than needed to escape the planet's gravity, it never again escapes form the planet.

It has a rocky core like all the gas giants. Meteors are vaporised and/or broken up by impacting their thick atmospheres, the solid bits sink to the core.

Gravity is directed at the center of the object. It will only fall to the center. If it passes the center, gravity pulls it back.
(The center is pretty crowded.)

I don't beleive it is only made of gas. You have a good point. I don't beleive we really know anything about it. I don't think man walked on the moon either.
