if you met a polar bear/lion you would not be top of the food chain.Guess we are pretty goofed up from too much idle time contemplating our own belly buttons.
Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow (or fairly soon) the planet dies.

I don't agree with this at all, you say that it is our ability to think and feel that put's us at the top of the food chain, but this is not the case at all. All living creatures are capable of thought and emotion, even if it's as basic as a bee looking for pollen, and then being 'angered' by a pesky human swatting at it. This is still thought, this is still emotion.

All mammels protect their young with their life's, who is to say this is not love? What do we feel for our children that is different?Nothing, it's the same whether it's a mother burning herself to stop her child spilling that hot milk, or a fox ready to fight off the wolves to protect her cubs.

So what drove us to the top of the food chain then? And before someone pipes up opposable thumbs,(there's always one), there are actually a hell of a lot of animals with that same trait, and they don't hold down jobs and wear clothes. The truth of it is, the only real difference between us and the monkeys is speech.

When daddy monkey shows baby monkey how to peel a banana, he just has to keep on showing him until he understands, which could take a while depending on how clever little monkey is. Then, once he has the concept in his tiny little monkey brain, he has to keep trying to do it, until he can do it too, all without speech. But when daddy human shows baby human how to do it, he can tell him, and correct him with speech, while baby human learns. Can you imagine how annoying it would be to try to teach someone to do even the most basic of tasks without the benefit of words?

We humans can control our breathing, something the other mammals haven't managed as of yet, but give them time, who says they won't evolve the ability too? Then we will have an extremely interesting planet indeed.

Okay, well that's that bit out of the way, to address the end of the question,-'but..dont these thoughts and feelings also make us weak, frail and damaged...what do you think...are these qualities our strength or our downfall?....;0).'

They are both, they are what makes life worth living, and what makes some of us take those life's in pursuit of a cause. Without the weaker emotiond there would be no 'strong' emotions, nature must always be balanced. When our race does come to an end though, I have no doubt that it will be because of thees weak emotions, and that our downfall will be caused by us our selves.

Fortunately most humans use different parts of their brains. Left side being the logical and the right the emotional side so no this actually leaves us with an advantage. It is up to the individual to decide in each situation which side to use. I think both sides are needed to make a healthy decision. Most men think logically which would be the left side and are great with math. Women on the other hand are a combination of right and left brained even though some use the right side a lot more then men. These differences make us versatile and great thinkers.

Being human, in my understanding, does not require of us to be perfect, or to be supremely intelligent, or even intelligent enough just to match the intelligence commonly prevalent in general nature, as it is not. To be human, in my view, would necessarily mean to be constantly in the realisation of our own imperfections, limitations and flaws, as that would only be in the view of some essentially inculcated ideals in our inner perception of a highest form of reality. This signifies our reach beyond the world of matter and time into the realms of creation, where all things including time are in creation.

The creation itself is not complete, and this is why it is creation - an endless process, everything once created will change endlessly, and this is the destination of everything in existence through creation, where the journey ahs no end but the end is all in the journey.

In creation nothing is perfect, perfection would only signify the end, which there is none. All things in existence are in a state of transition; everything is going one place or the other all the time; and so are we human beings.

We are not damaged or flawed. We are simply incomplete seeking completion and perfection. Just think for a moment if we WERE essentially flawed how would we know if there is an imperfection or a flaw, in comparison with some innate sense of perfection.

I think you should go over to psychology and ask this, I think that those of us that have so called mental illness labels are being called names and being categorized as the other half or the damaged goods section. Yeah, I see it as being damaged goods because 1 we either made a few mistakes in life, 2 we have had an unfair amount of things we have had to overcome or deal with 3 we have been traumatized in some way 4 we have faced poverty and oppression so we are being made into a disease that we are suppose to learn to accept and call ourselves.

Yes we are damaged goods. Not that we were ever perfect to start with & we certainly get beat up along the journey. We may be the top of the food chain but it doesn't give us the right to deplete the world's resources. We will inevitably suffer if we bite the hand that feeds us. We must respect the planet & all creatures in it.

These feelings on their own are a strength, when you feel any one of them in too large an amount it will be a down fall, usually after a high in strength.

Passion is a blessed curse, it arouses the souls of men, only to crush them.

We are damaged goods from the moment we realise that we are going to die one day. Young children really are free spirits living in a world of dreams and happiness. Once you realise your own mortality, things are never quite the same again.

its a mixed blessing.
some feel the 'wrong' emotions and get greedy or mad, which is very bad for humanity, however most manage to keep the irrationality down to a saner level.
but i think that excess emotions can lead to insanity...
i mean have you seen what a jealous lover can do, ouch!
