A Mars-like or Venus-like future is possible for Earth if the right conditions were to occur.

First the magnetic field will stop. This will allow the solar wind to blow the atmosphere out into space so it is like Mars. Then the sun will expand as it runs out of fuel and will roast the Earth so it will be very hot, too hot for anything to live.

But this will take a few billion years so don't worry.

Its depends on how far into the future you plan to look. When the sun turns into a red giant, it will probably gobble up earth, else, the third planet would be flung far out of its current orbit, with its surface badly scalded, wiping out all forms of life.
