At the college level, geography will be more than political maps and state capitals.

There will be more focus on geographical terrain, with critical discussion and research into how geography affects different aspects of life, economy, nature, etc. for a particular area. Furthermore, you will compare and contrast these aspects with other areas that either share similar geography or similar life, economy, etc., and then discuss how one area lags another as a result.

An introductory geography class won't contain any complex math, but probably some basic algebra, and definitely some introductory statistics. You will have to apply sound scientific methods to develop your ideas and papers.

Of course, the difficulty and material of the class will vary from university to university. In this day and age, there should be a syllabus posted on-line somewhere, so you can read what's expected before you ever enroll.

It is not easy, but challenging. Some of the things you have learned in earlier geography would be either different or further expressed.
