I am a econ. major and it really depends on what type of econ you consentrait in. Microecon dends to be more math and caluclus based because theirs a lot of keysians models in it while Macroecon, you should prob get to know your theories. Also, it depends on what type of school you go to too. A practical application econ school will be a little bit more easier if your going to use in in the real world, while Art and sciences econ. major will have a little easies time doing research and becoming a professor.

In my experience, it depends on the person, the class, the instructor, etc.
I personally *enjoyed* economics more going through college, and I think more so because it's a class that I took later on, after I'd had time in the real world to see how the theories that I was studying apply in real life--EVERYTHING in society revolves around economics. I can't say that as a high school student I really cared enough about the world around me for it to make sense (and I'd argue that most high school students are largely the same way).
It's not an easy subject at any stage, because it is very theoretical. I find that if you make sure to listen to the news enough to be familiar with what's going on, Economics becomes a lot easier. You start to understand why people argue each side of issues like minimum wage, taxes on cigarettes, welfare, nationalized health care--even environmental issues.
Good luck, and enjoy it-- it is a great thing to understand, and you will be one up on those who couldn't bring themselves to care enough about it to get it.

i am an econ major, and i enjoy economics alot. intro to economics is fairly easy, it is mostly concepts and ideas.
if you start taking more higher econ it becomes a bit tougher. microeconomics deals alot with calculus especially integrals and trying to find areas under curves, also Econometrics (i thought) was a real pain. Macro economics is all about theories and principles about how people as a whole deal with money.

It was easy for me. Seemed to be pretty hard for everyone else. Depends on the person.

Not much math required and it's an interesting topic to read about. Also, very practical information for your personal life.
