Have you thought of trying the Bare Minerals line? I had problems with my foundation too, until I switched to the Bare Escenutals line. Now I get a nice matte foundation that sill looks natural, and still covers flaws.

ok so you have oily skin then? First, you have to understand that good foundation begins with using the right face wash! try dermologica clay cleanser for oily skin. it will clean your pores without stripping your skin and therefore causing your skin to create more oil. Next use a moisturiser for oily skin, like dermologica oil control. This is a MUST to help your foundation stay in place!! Finally choose a liquid foundation that is mattifying and clarifying. For this, go on to cosmetic sites, like bobbibrowncosmetics or mac and read the descriptions. To buy the foundation, go into a department store and talk to the girls on the counter. this way you already ahve a fair idea what you want but they might be able to give you extra tips. Finally, use a loose powder and a big face brush to dust on the powder. Hope this helps!!

it sdounds like you have two separate issues. first, it sounds like you have combination skin. you need to start a skincare routine. to get rid of the patchiness, you will have to exfoliate to remove the dead skin cells. get a face scrub and use it once a week. this will help you maintain healthy skin. use the scrub with an exfoliation brush, loofah sponge for the face or a face cloth. use circular motions to remove the dead skin. then you need to use an oil free moisturizer everyday. this will give you the smooth base to apply your foundation.

as for the oiliness, use a high quality, oil free foundation. i recommend laura mercier, armani or even mac. the oil-free foundation will keep it from going oily. finish it off with a loose powder and large brush. a light dusting over your foundation, apply your make up and another light dusting over the areas that normally get oily should take care of it. a large brush will help you use less powder thus not making your skin look cakey. i recommend the larura mercier or chanticaille loose powders. if this still does not work, then you must prime your skin with a face primer. i recommend laura mercier's oil free face primer. the primer will seal your skin and help to keep your make up in place so it will not shift.

the best thing to do is go to a high end department store like saks, nordtroms, etc or holt renfrew in canada. as them questions about these products and ask for samples to take home. the highend stores will give you samples. take them home and see what works best for you. however, the key is the skin care regime. the exfoliation and moisturizer will help immensely. this will balance out your skin and you may not need the primer. do that first and then see what you need at that point.

My Dermatologist told me the reason why most woman breakout from makeup is due to the filler bismith oxychloride. I see a lot of people suggest bare escentuals, but it is not a completely natural makeup as they believe. Check out the ingredients, and you will see that it contains bismuth oxychloride. Bismith oxychloride is the by-product of lead and copper refining. It is also related to arsenic. I suggest getting a makeup without the chemical and see the difference.

Conventional foundation is made with 90% fillers and 10% color pigment. Fillers such as talc, oil, preservatives, dye and fragrances are the number one cause for breakouts and skin irritations.

I had the same problem with many makeups. I found abrand called Bella Pierre, and it goes on very evenly and flawlessly. I purchase mine at http://www.bpcosmetics.com

Whenever I order from bpcosmetics.com, I receive my makeup within 3 days and shipping is $5.00, can't beat that at all! Also, if you are interested, I just received a coupon code from them for 10% off the order. The code is PROMO, and I think it said it was good till the end of february.

you need to get some good skin care firstly to keep your oil under control throughout the day, then get a full coverage, long lasting foundation. i use Dior icone! its matte, long lasting and a good coverage! it doesn't feel cakey either as it is a light powdery cream! if not, try stick foundations and moose foundations! and always use a moisturizer! always remember to use a compact powder this will set your foundation and keep it matte most of the day, then carry it around and dap abit on throughout the day to remove any shine!

I always get a little cringe when I see someone suggesting too much oil-control in their skincare regime. When you strip all the oil from the skin, it tells your oil glands that the skin is dry and they over produce oil. I like the suggestion of Dermalogica, though. Use the Special Cleansing gel and then the Active Moist moisturizer. I also like the suggestions of a mineral makeup. However, I like Jane Iredale the best.

STAY AWAY FROM BARE MINERALS!!! It is so bad for you!

Bare Minerals contains fillers such as bismith oxychloride, methalparaben, and polyparaben.

Just so everyone knows methalparaben which again is found in Bare Minerals has been linked to cancer/breast cancer....

Bismith oxychloride is a by product from lead and copper.

article on methalparaben http://www.mindfully.org/Pesticide/2004/Methylparaben-Deodorant-Cancer12jan04.htm

Do your own research just copy and paste each ingredient in Bare Minerals and see how unnatural it really is!

I use Netrogena oil-clearing foundation. I love it, I have been using it for years. I tried Clinique and Bare minerals and they both broke my skin out really bad.

I have oily skin and I went the bare minerals route, but it made my skin worse. It also made my pores more pronounced. I use Mary Kay, I have sensitive, oily, acne pron skin, and Mary Kay has worked for me. And you can ask your rep any make up questions you may have.
