Talking about meteor shower I want to share a memory with you.
This was back in 1997 and it was the peak time to witness meteor shower in asia (hongkong). and damn me and my 5 best homies in highschool organized a "sneak peek" trip to some deserted beaches at some mountains far away from the city(get away from the light distractions).
We got there at around 10pm and started setting up a barbeque pit(homo sapien-style) on the sands and roasted some fish we caught at the beach. we had a little old radio that does live broadcast from the observatory. we waited and waited through the night and nothing really showed up. and once in awhile my friend would say " YO LOOK!!!" and then we realized was shadows of small flocks of birds flying by. Till almost 4:30 still nothing showed up we got so bored we start doing sommersaults on the beach. by now we knew we had wasted a whole night's time on waiting and traveling there.
At just before the break of dawn (when the sky turned a little light blue and dark orange) around 5am this is when something unusual appears near the horizon. To put what i saw clearer. Let's say if the sky was a piece of very thin silk cloth, then someone is scratching at the back with fingernails faintly. Bit by bit, a column by a column. Then it progressed into even more meteors falling, you ever had those sparkling firework sticks on birthday cakes? It 's like you start seeing those sparks just falling down from the sky, faintly. but you can see it. and it just disappears in a split second but more kept coming. We knew we had it this time and just stood there and enjoyed the meteor shower.
My buddy said, "If you see a falling star you make a wish..we should start making wishes..." so we didn't waste any time and got serious and made alot of wishes for the course of roughly about 10 minutes of the meteor shower lol.
Man, those were some GOOD, good times...

I saw one. It was the Leonid. I had to get up at like 4 in the morning. It was so cold! We lived out in the country, which is why it was easy to see. We laid a blanket out on the ground and watched. The meteors fell about two per minute, so it wasn't as spectacular as I had imagined, but it was still pretty cool. Just do a search on meteor shower or Leonid, and you will find out the next one. One website I found says that the Lyrids can be seen best on Apr. 22, 2007.

I have never seen a meteor shower personally, heck you gotta give it some privacy...
I have seen plenty, they always happen in the wee hours of the morning, so you have to stay up past 1am...

Yes.
Pretty much every August since I was a kid on the Ontario side of Lake Huron at Grand Bend. I guess I take them for granted. Hope you get to see one, they are very cool.
