Check that the CPU isnt getting too hot.(usually you can find a heat monitor in your bios)
Also check for viruses.

What are you doing at the time
How often

Personally it may be happening due to:

High CPU percentage use age
You are closing down vital system processes
You have some sort of virus

Try to close down some un-needed applications and don't run to many open windows.

You might have a virus. If you can keep it on long enough to run some anti-virus software, try that. If that doesn't work, try using the recovery disk that came with your computer.
