Greetings.

Most people identifies fair complexion as "beauty". It is not only common in the east but also in the west. Instead of seeing the beauty of "inside" - good manners, intelligence, well nurtured mind, generous heart, wise principles etc - as beauty, human's eyes blink on seeing blond hairs, milk white skin and coloured eyes. That's a pity!

Dark coloured skin people are as human and beautiful as white coloured skin and though beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, the beholder's mind should be clean from such idiot thinking, that fair complexion is superior in beauty.

The most stupid point is that even when you hear dark coloured people talking on beauty, they often say things like, "he/she is very fair, very beautiful!" while unconsciously and stupidly they are making themselves inferior, labelling themselves as ugly people.

It is common to see in arrange marriage that parents search for fair complexion groom and bride as to show the rest of their family that their son and daughter has for partner a beautiful person.

I'm fair complexion and my wife is dark complexion. We have no preference for dark skin or fair skin. What we were seduced with, was the inside beauty.

Keep on asking thought provoking question.

Peace.

You must be writing about a certain people that prefer that type. I have girlfriends that love dark, muscular, bald black men. And then I know black men that feel the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice. So basically, it's just what the individual is attracted to. I'm a mahogany color and I prefer hi-yellow/white men. But they must have personality and sense of humor. It's not always about skin color and being the most gorgeous man or woman on the planet because you would be surprised on how many of the good looking people are the ones with the most insecurities. So to each it's own.

PS: And just for some of the comments made above me about light skinned people are the smartest and the prettiest. I know and have met some really gorgeous light skinned people that were intelligent. But they were also conceded, nasty, uppity and snotty. Don't sleep on dark skinned people. You have some brilliant minds in this world and these minds belongs to some of darkest people you've ever met in your entire life! It's not always about the skin color. It's about how much of an education you've absorb in the brain cells. Looks will take you places sure. But once that person's looks start failing and they're dumb as hell, what have you got? Think about it!

Because fair complexion is considered prettier. This idea comes from medieval days, when the poor farmers used to burn in the sun and get tanned while the rich ppl or aristocrats used to sit home and maintain a fair complexion. Hence ppl w/ darker skin were associated w/ being poor and out there, while those w/ light skin were associated w/ aristocracy and privilege. After that, during the whole era of European industrial revolution and imperialism, this whole idea of 'whites being superior to other races' was created. These concepts all led to the preference of light skin, which is still considered better today despite so many changes in the world.

Don't say ppl. Say 'Indians'. Indians prefer white complexioned spouse. We have this mentality that fair complexion is better else there are any number of instances where white ppl have married coloured ppl, black, brown, yellow and others. So its a peculiarity of we Indians.

Even though they say beauty is only skin deep, I believe that it's only a matter of time and the natural selection power shall empower it.

The colur differentian will slowly become not a significant factor in the ultimate selection. However this progress is occuring at a relatively slow pace due to the relatively rigid rules of the present day society emphsizing one kind of class or another.

Its rather like this Black complexion always has White mind & thought. What in complexion anywhy it has to fade with age isn't it.

I have heard it said that blondes generally found more attractive because many children are blonde with clear, fair complexions and we tend to associate that with youthfulness.

i think boys prefer fair if you have seen matrimonial ad mostely written wanted fair and beautiful bride for ..... on contrary for the ad for gromm ...wanted tall, dark and handsome....now it has become a regular practise....but most important is what u r as a human being ...these things should hardly be the most important issue.
