My rule is simple. If you are on the internet WITHOUT an Anti-virus program, then you HAVE a VIRUS. Be protected, but also, you should LEARN a bit about virus extraction methods.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

antivirus programs are the mainstay these days as there are still "baddies" out there who write malicious code for whatever reason...as far as the specific programs go, some work better in certain regions than others, it has to do with the definition files...Norton is a system hog, but its centrally made for the americas and therefore may not have the correct definitions for the india virus database....mcafee is the same way...grisoft (avg) is a german company and has more definitions because of its international database, not to say norton and mcafee don't, they just aren't as diverse as some others. So your Quick heal program is probably setup more for your region than others and thats why it works better for you.

Quick Heal is less known but Really Very Effective and powerful security Suite, Quick heal uses DNA Scan technology that traces the basic structure on files of a Virus. If u going to Quick Heal than its excellent decision.
Actually virus are the programs to run malicious act on computer system, where antivirus also contains virus(yes!! u r reading absolutely right, antiviruses also contains virus but they are ethical) because antivirus's searches and destroyes the harmful virus and removes their files or traces. Thats why we use antivirus to remove a virus, because Tit For Tat....
At last use Quick Heal and u will never go for another antivirus..
use it with Zone Alarm, a very deadly combination for malicious s/w's :). I'm using it.

I would recommend Norton Antivirus with Antispyware and also Spysubract, but at least Norton.
Norton Utilities is also good program to have, because it finds loose ends and fixes them.
Don't forget to delete cookies, temporary internet files, and defragment the computer about once a week.
Never heard of Quick heal.

Quick Heal anti-virus is grossly overrated in India, because it is the only anti-virus made in India. It is the sort of hype that Sania Mirza gets. It detects only average number of viruses, and is almost a worse duplicate of Norton.

The best virus scanner that exists right now, well there is no such thing as the best... BUT the most used and the best reputation for catching a lot of viruses as well as not SLOWING down your computer is AVG FREE
You can obtain it here
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg75free_432a904.exe
AND ITS COMPLETELY FREE...
I highly reccomend this scanner over MCAFEE OR NORTON. MCAFEE AND NORTON, slow DOWN your pc a ton using all kinds of speed up methods that just eat up your memory...
