nicely. North and South are polar opposites. So if pass upnorth 400meters (+4 hundred) then downsouth 3 hundred (-3 hundred) then we get (4 hundred - 3 hundred) = one hundred meters displacement. yet on the grounds that we went farther North than we did South, we are nevertheless interior the North. So our displacement is 100m north.

ooh was he like near the north pole
say 400m south of the north pole then runs in a straight line suddenly due to the geographical phenominon his straight line north becomes a straight line south...
so he is 700m from where he started and fairdinkum on the other side of the world!!!
