Yup, Quite normal, sometimes baby isn't laying where they can see or the cord is in the way, or they can't tell because they think it might be the cord.
Sometimes a suprise is nice !!
Congratualtions by the way and i am pleased everything is good with the baby.

With my first pregnancy, I couldn't wait to see the sex of the baby. My husband was wishing for a girl and I was wishing for a boy. When I went for a scan to determine the sex the baby wasn't lying right for the Dr to see. The scan after that (about three weeks later) needless to say my little boy was showing off his goods!!!!! My second pregnancy the Dr couldn't see the sex (that's because his equipment is so damn outdated the screen was too small) I went to the hospital to have a scan cause I couldn't wait to see the sex and I found out that I was having a little girl! My kids are 13 months apart.
Is this your first pregnancy? Good luck by the way!

No but I did ge told I was having a girl and it turned out to be a boy! Thats why with my second I paid for a 4d scan to see tne sex 100%. I am a very impatient person and was deffo not gunna wait 9 months to decide if clothes should be pink or blue. It does sometimes happen though because of the way baby is lying. x

Hya hun, yes this happened to me at my 20 wk scan. My baby was lying with her legs crossed so they couldn't get 'in there' to see what the sex was.
So like yo I had to wait and see!
Turned out to be a girl which was great cos I am 1 of 5 and the only girl - yes she is spoilt rotten!

Unless the baby's penis can be seen a doctor will generally not tell you what the sex is. Even if he can see labia as sometimes the testicles and penis can resemble a labia.
Unless the penis can be seen it is virtually impossible to know with complete certainty what the sex of the baby is, however, I have heard of new Ultrasound technology that can reproduce a baby's image to near photographic quality which will help determine if the baby is really a girl or an unfortunate boy.

Congrats! Im told that when I have my scan, even if they tell me the sex its only 90% accurate. Know thats pretty likely to be correct, but think id be wondering for rest of pregnancy about that other 10%, so wouldnt feel sure of the sex anyway. Just wait till you give birth, it will be a nice surprise.

If the baby is in the wrong position to see the sex then they won't be able to tell you. I had twins and found out the sex on 2 different scans because of positioning of them.

I have never wanted to know..I think its one of lifes little surprises that is worth waiting for. When I had my 3rd child I looked for myself and my husband told me he found it really funny to watch as I saw I had my first boy. I kept saying 'its a boy, its a boy'. All the other times I had my husband tell me. We tried to guess the sex on each occaision, and well the scoring was even. We got it right twice and wrong twice!!
Good luck, be patient you will find out soon enough, and dont worry the baby would just be in a position where it is hiding its bits!!

Yes, don't worry. Usually it is the way that the baby is
lying. If you really want to know, and it is worrying you,
why don,t you go back again. A blood test also can
give an indication of what sex it is likely to be.
