Not quite the same as a monthly period,some other mammals come in season,to show they are sexually receptive.Women's periods happen at the end of a cycle when the unfertilized egg and uterine lining are disposed of.

The main difference is that most mammals are only fertile for a certain time of the year, and they make it obvious.

Women are fertile most of the time and there is no way to tell when.

Biologists theorize it's a strategy that was developed through evolution mostly to keep men around so they would raise their babies and thus propagate their genes more when the kids are old enough to have kids on their own.

All female mammals cycle... some with a considerable amount of blood, others with very little.--- horses discharge no blood, but cycle every 28 days, dogs about twice per year and do indeed cycle with blood. Pandas 1 or two days per year

yes as everyone says, all mammals do. But not just them, if you make slight stretch in the definition or your thoughts..........unfertilised eggs from any bird or reptile could be considered a period? So the shops are full of them.

We're not, Dog and Cats bleed when they come in to season, they just clean it up, so you dont really notice it.
