I got the "evidence" here :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSI:_Crime_Scene_Investigation

"Stylistically, the show has drawn favorable comparisons to Quincy and The X-Files. The show's gadgets and occasional usage of yet-to-be-invented technology have moved the show nominally into the genre of science fiction and garnered it a 2004 Saturn Award nomination for best science fiction, fantasy, or horror television series".

it's TV. it's a fantasy. they actually got an award for fantasy. it's about forensics, the most boring part of criminal investigation. just another one of these "let's make nerds look cool" shows.

Yes, how do you think real crimes are solved? The jobs they portray on CSI is not all accurate. CSIs do collect evidence. But the Forensic Scientists are the ones who actually analyze the evidence. I was told this by a real Forensic Scientist. I read that they do have real-life experts related to the CSI & Forensic Science field who help them accurately write the details for the scripts.

CSI is amazingly plenty in assessment to authentic existence. no person individual does each little thing. Forensic technological awareness has many sub-specialties which contains: Forensic Odontology, Forensic Pathology, Forensic Serology, Forensic Accounting, Forensic Nursing, etc, etc. in case you prefer to be a detective in manhattan, you ought to grow to be a police officer. you are able to rather have a diploma in in spite of you like, yet criminal Justice may be the main effective. when you artwork as a "familiar" police officer for some years, you have the aptitude to be promoted to detective place. Detectives do lots of what unquestionably CSI do: they convey about jointly data, take pictures, and interview human beings (and now and lower back they even use Luminol!) Forensic Scientists are people who learn data (ie: positioned it below a microscope and run DNA exams and examine out bones --of their respective fields of awareness of path.) Crime scene investigators are oftentimes sworn officers. they do no longer must be in spite of the undeniable fact that. Forensic Scientists are often no longer sworn officers (different than for ballistics examiners.) confident, the internet may be an extraordinarily perplexing place crammed with dorks who think of they comprehend issues. What i might propose is contacting the branch you will possibly prefer to artwork at and notice how they define issues - theirs is the only opinion that rather concerns.

Generally, it's true. Most states have some form of a CSI unit, but the ultra high tech stuff in the show is way too expensive for most state budgets, plus, they leave the detective work to real cops with badges.

I highly doubt there's as much of it as CSI would like you to believe, but surely there's crime labs where people do this as their profession. I could never do such a thing I think it'd drive me mad if I had to study methods of people being murdered, and doing autopsies on dead people all the time. If those people don't get like 5 months of vacation a year there would be no point in pursuing that.

I've heard 90% is real, and the rest isn't necessarily fake,(it just hasn't been invented yet: ). No seriously, 10% of the time I heard they just kind of exaggerate the effectiveness of some of their methods and the capabilities of some equipment.
