i dont know much about the physics of energy, but it seems like computers are using more and more power these days, with increased mhz everywhere. so will the time come where a manufacturers hit a maximum before and computers overheat or blow a fuse, and then have to develope something new?

It is not so much an issue of "more power". Computers still only run on 5 watts, same as the early chips. Rather it is an issue of cramming more and stuff onto the tiny space of the microchip. The major issue is not "power" but "heat". And the industry is hitting some physical limits of size and heat that it is working to overcome.
