I'm taking a WILD shot at this, so take this with BIIIIIIIIG grain of salt.
The Irish legends speak of pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. This may sound judgemental, but,... I think it is the desire for easily-gained riches without the expense or effort that earning those riches requires. Maybe I'm dead wrong, but that's what I think it may be.
