they both great i love there music but i think that Joe satriani id doing sounds with his guitar no one can do .

Satriani by far.
He is capable of many different musical styles and is humble enough to know that he was influenced by some of the greatest guitar players ever.

without a doubt........Joe satriani is the king of that guitar battle.....slash is horrible and plays everything that is safe to play...slash plays the simple guitar pieces where Joe finds a new way to do something

Satch smokes Slash's playing any day. Slash has really developed his guitar playing from the early days of GNR, but Satch is just an amazing player. Many say that much of Joe's guitar playing is just technical, but check out some of his live videos on YouTube. He can be very blusey too.
