I have a simple exercise for you...
Ask anyone above who claimed magic works to prove it and see what happens...
I'm pretty confident that nothing will happen (they might then make all sorts of apologies; it doesn't always work, you have to believe, the stars weren't aligned...)
The point is that the magic casting claim has no evidence to support it. None. In fact the evidence, time and time again, REFUTES such claims.
In most cases of "magical thinking" the believers are mistaking correlation (two events coinciding) with causation (one event influencing the second). But our minds can err in a variety of ways beyond this (see links)
Lastly, there is The Million Dollar Challenge: anyone who provides evidence that they can cast spells will get the prize. All who claim they can do magic should easily win this (maybe you should also ask them why they haven't already).
Sorry everyone, I mean it. I would love for there to be magic. It would be very cool, but our lives are governed by specific physical rules and magic apparently doesn't fit within them.

Magick (spelled with a 'k' on purpose) does work however it is nothing like Hollywood would have you believe. I personally don't believe in spells that you get out of someone else's book as magick is about your personal vision of what you want. Probably the best "book" I can recommend is "Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life" by Shakti Gawain.

Many people believe it and say spells work. But I wouldn't get into all that. As a Christian we leave the magic up to God. There are more intellectual ways to get what you want!

I take it you mean "Spell Magik" and not magicians. Yup it does. It is not trickery. If all you want to know about is doing a spell on someone, or just trying it, then i advise you to look carefully into the Craft before trying any kind of spells.

Indeed it works so long as we do not know the mystery of the magic.

It absolutely DOES work. Check online and in book stores. There are whole sections in "New Age" dedicated to the subject. It's not complex, you just have to have unwavering focus and faith.
