You expected a film about a beautiful welder by day/dancer by night to be realistic?! Best film of that genre (in my opinion) was The Breakfast Club.

You are watching a movie about a pseudo stripper who works as a welder and aspires to be a ballerina and yet you found her behavior unbelievable. Interesting. The whole movie was incredulous.

You want 80's movies try:

The Sure Thing
About Last Night
Risky Business
Porky's
Better Off Dead
My Chauffeur
Wayne's World
Sixteen Candles
Uncle Buck
Back To School
Easy Money
Beverly Hills Cop
Top Gun
Modern Girls
Staying Together
It Takes Two
Real Genius
Wierd Science
Top Secret
About Last Night
Pretty Woman
Satisfaction
This Thing Called Love
Love Potion #9
The Breakfast Club

The list goes on and on....

I like the bit where Lori Singer gets slapped. Revenge for all that nausea she put us through as cello playing Julie in Fame.

I think the ultimate 'slice of 80s life' movie has to be St Elmos Fire.

The Breakfast Club. I watched it over and over, and so did my kids. I loved Dirty Dancing, they blew it off.

I didn't much like Flashdance either. I liked Footloose.
